Comfort Snacking
Uncertainty, stress, and working from home - a perfect recipe for COMFORT SNACKING. You can feel guilty, maybe ignore it and say, “When things go back to normal, I’ll change,” or try to go cold turkey.
If you’ve made this valiant attempt, you know these habits feel automatic and nearly impossible to change.
But that’s the simple key to change. Shift from auto-pilot into awareness.
Instead of attempting a complete overhaul, or feeling overwhelmed and ashamed by this thing you know you “should” change, try this on …
Ask yourself “Why?”
Before going for the mid-day snack or late night dessert, just pause and ask, “Why do I want this?”
Is it boredom or anxiety you are trying to quiet? Or maybe you didn’t eat enough at lunch and you really are hungry.
Whatever the reason, if you take 60 seconds to pause and ask, you will begin to find freedom. Understanding why takes you off auto-pilot and gives you power to make a different decision.
Don’t be afraid to give yourself permission to snack, even if you realize your motivations are not ideal. If you continue to practice paying attention, your choices WILL CHANGE over time - no guilt or cold turkey technique required.
