5 Home Gym Essentials

Whether by choice or by necessity, many of us are having to find a way to exercise at home these days.  Here’s a list of exercise equipment that will give you the most options to build a solid home workout program. 

#1 Kettlebell 

Men - aim for about ⅓ your body weight for experienced lifters, ¼ your weight for intermediate and ⅕ your weight if you’re just starting.

Women - aim for about ¼ your body weight for experienced lifters, ⅕ your weight for intermediate and ⅙ your weight if you’re just starting.

*Cost: Approx $1.50/lb (Shipping adds a lot for online shopping unless you can find one with free shipping)

#2 TRX 

Great tool for a variety of full-body workout exercises.  

*Cost: $150 new (may find used one for less)

#3 Stability Ball

Great for exercises like chest press, ab rollouts, pikes, knee-tucks, and seated shoulder presses. 

*Cost: Approx. $20

#4 A second Kettlebell 

Pair your first kettlebell with one of the same weight to do any exercise you would perform with 2 dumbbells OR go big and get a heavier weight to progress towards.  

#5 Foam Roller

Use a foam roller to work out trigger points in your muscles and prepare your body for your workouts.

Cost: $15
