Skip the Machines
Have you ever walked into a gym and wondered, “What the heck should I be doing?” If you want to make your time count, skip the weight machines.
Machines are easier to use and they can be a good start. But here are 3 reasons to move away from machines and into free weights and bodyweight exercises.
#1 Machines don’t strengthen your core. When using free weights, your core is forced to stabilize. Machines do that work for you.
#2 You burn fewer calories on machines. Because you aren’t stabilizing, you are using fewer muscles and burning fewer calories
#3 Machine exercises don’t transition into real life. Real life requires squatting, lunging, standing and lifting. You want exercises that help you do that better. You do plenty of sitting at work.
Instead of walking the line of random machines, consider doing a full-body workout with free weights and body weight.
You’ll burn more calories and build more functional strength!
